Biography:
A native West Virginian, Bill Foster graduated from Shepherd University with a B.S. degree in 1992 and received his Juris Doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1995. Bill also attended Downing College at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
He was admitted to the West Virginia State and Federal Bars in 1995 and began practicing law at the Cleveland, Ohio law firm of Jacobson, Maynard & Tuschman. Bill then returned to West Virginia, serving as a partner in Kay, Casto & Chaney for five years before starting The Foster Law Firm. He has developed a reputation for possessing extensive medical legal knowledge and is adept at handling medical litigation matters, boasting an impressive success rate in medical-legal trials.
Bill has conducted numerous nursing and physician seminars and is a licensed West Virginia Continuing Medical Education Provider. In 2009, Bill attended the Credentialing School's course on how to manage an effective credentialing and privileging process within the standards set out by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The school is the only certification recognized by the North American Association of Medical Staff Specialists (NAAMS).
Bill is a member of many fraternal and legal organizations and proudly sponsors and serves on various community organizations. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Covenant House, Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center, and Charleston ArtWalk. He serves on the Corporate Relations Committee for the Clay Center for the Arts and Science and he supports Charleston-area AAU basketball programs, Union Mission and Charleston and South Charleston Firefighters (Locals 317 and 837).
Bill is also an active member of River Ridge Church where he hosts a Home Group, leads a Men's Group and coaches the church's high school basketball team. His civic-mindedness has carried over to the firm, as well. The Foster Law Firm is an active participant in bringing arts to the area by maintaining an active partnership with the Clay Center, among others.
